Monaro Spring Worm Risk Outlook 2024
The average WEC through the 2024 Winter was 282epg, this is 52epg below the previous year and 57epg up on the long-term average. Black sour worm was the most active this winter averaging 38%. Small brown stomach worm was present at 20% and Barbers pole 18%. Slightly warmer and dryer conditions throughout winter has been unfavourable for worms. When the much-needed spring rain arrives keep testing – as feed quality becomes lower so does immunity, leaving stock more susceptible to worm burdens.
