Monaro Autumn Worm Risk Outlook 2025
The average WEC through summer this year was 198epg. This is down from last year’s average and the long-term average of 323 epg and 296epg respectively. True to form, the forecasters missed the mark with a predicted wet summer bringing below average rainfall and above average temperatures throughout summer. The silver lining of this is a reprieve from worms for most, however with the highest average WEC at 2000epg it pays to be vigilant. What will the autumn bring? Hopefully a decent brake. If the rain comes, statistically worm numbers will peak over autumn. As always keep testing or your flying blind. Larval culture breakdown is: 71% Barbers Pole, 8% Small Brown Stomach Worm, 12% Black Scour Worm, 9% other.
