Monaro Farming Systems has partnered with the Grower Group Alliance in the National Industry-Led Carbon Farming Outreach Program.
The project brings together 39 farming and land management groups from all states and the NT. These groups will collaborate with local farm advisory service providers to deliver tailored training sessions. The initiative aims to build capacity within the farming sector to adopt low-emission technologies and practices, and to facilitate access to reliable, independent advice for an estimated 3,500+ farming enterprises.
Objectives
- Support farmers and land managers to make informed decisions to reduce emissions.
- Build the capacity of trusted advisers to deliver independent, credible advice.
- Facilitate access to clear, consistent, and culturally appropriate information on carbon farming and low-emission technologies and practices.
Outcomes
- Farmers and land managers make well-informed decisions to lower emissions.
- Increased knowledge of greenhouse gas emission management among farmers and land managers.
- Trusted advisers have the necessary resources, knowledge, and skills to continue providing valuable advice beyond the life of this grant opportunity.
Monaro Farming Systems’ trainers, Andrew Rolfe and Jono Forrest, will deliver five workshops over the next two years here on the Monaro that will be tailored to best suit our region. Andrew and Jono have attended the ‘train the trainer’ sessions in June and are now preparing content for presentations to Monaro farmers.
