Monaro Farming in Focus – Photography Competition

Monaro Farming Systems held its inaugural Monaro Farming in Focus photography competition to showcase everyday farming life on the Monaro. The competition was supported by Boyce Chartered Accountants and received a strong response from members.

The 2025 theme, “Weathering It,” invited participants to capture moments shaped by weather and seasonal conditions across the region. In total, 80 photographs were submitted by 25 members, reflecting the diversity of Monaro landscapes, enterprises and farming experiences.

From these entries, 15 photographs were shortlisted for the Members’ Choice Award, with voting held in the lead-up to the MFS Summer Field Day. The competition recognised both creative expression and the shared realities of farming on the Monaro.

The winning images were:

  • Judges’ Choice: Miranda McGufficke — “Where’s my Woolly Jumper!”
  • People’s Choice – 1st: Hannah Marriott — “A Little White”
  • People’s Choice – 2nd: Michelle McGufficke — “I Love a Sunburnt Country”
  • People’s Choice – 3rd: Miranda McGufficke — “Boys Line Up”

The competition provided an opportunity to highlight the creativity within the MFS membership and to share visual stories of farming life on the Monaro.
